Skills and development

The Skills and Development project supports women living with HIV in developing skills to access further education, training, volunteering opportunities and employment. Women living with HIV receive support in action planning, motivation, skills for life and understanding opportunities available to them. Women who have recently received the right to remain and women newly released from prison are particular target groups. The project aims to get women into employment by developing key skills, through volunteering.

The project works closely with the Volunteer Bureaux, particularly those in deprived areas to raise awareness of HIV, develop capacity and promote volunteering opportunities for beneficiaries and others living with HIV.

Positively Women are taking a multi-agency approach working with other HIV providers, employment bureaux and Job Centre Plus’ Re-work programme to provide a comprehensive programme of activities supporting the development of personal skills and employability.

Positively Women’s IT resource centre is open for women to practice their computer skills with facilitated learning sessions.

Volunteering and Training at Positively Women is part of the Ensuring Positive Futures Partnership. The Ensuring Positive Futures Partnership is part funded by the European Social Fund under the Equal Community Initiative Programme.
